FOOD QUALITY AND SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY
The Penalva do Castelo Winery recognizes that a solid Food Quality and Safety Policy and the adoption of good environmental practices are a fundamental instrument of its strategy and, as such, a success factor for its operations.
The winery aims to comply with legal requirements, statutes, and customer needs, always seeking continuous improvement of the Food Quality and Safety System (FQSS), taking into account the IFS FOOD standard, and ensuring the implementation and maintenance of good environmental, social, and economic responsible practices.

From this perspective, the aim is to:

• Ensure the identification, assessment, and control of hazards and risks related to Food Safety, complying with the requirements stipulated by the H.A.C.C.P. (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) methodology, as well as current legislation and the Codex Alimentarius;

• Establish and periodically review the principles, objectives, and goals, taking into account the processes and significant impacts in order to guarantee sustainable development.

• Qualify and periodically evaluate suppliers of grapes, oenological products, and subsidiary materials, and demand rigor in the quality and authenticity of the products supplied, maintaining good communication with them;

• Maintain a close relationship, transparency, and cooperation with all winegrowers. In particular, adopting good practices in the vineyard, contributing to the continuous improvement of production, to the protection of the environment, and to the strengthening of the local economy and community.

• Implement, maintain, and review the Food Safety and Quality System (SQSA) to ensure that all products comply with established procedures, legal requirements, and contractual requirements assumed with clients;

• Meet the present and future needs and expectations of our clients;

• Maintain active communication with all stakeholders (suppliers, clients, partners, competent and public bodies, community, and others) on issues related to food safety, fraud, and the environment. • To ensure the competence of employees in terms of good practices related to quality, food safety, environment and social responsibility, providing them with the necessary training. At the same time, communicating the evolution of organizational performance in these areas in an open and transparent manner.

• Optimization of technical and material resources in order to contribute to a better environment, obtain the satisfaction of the partners and the consolidation of the winery in the market.

• To protect the environment, namely by controlling the consumption of electricity and fuel and treating waste appropriately.
• To ensure that the Policy remains adequate, updated and periodically reviewed.
