In 2024, the Cities of Wine Competition is in its fourth edition and visited the municipality of Gouveia, located in the Beira Interior Norte region and integrated into the demarcated Dão Wine Region. It is here that wines from all over the country were tasted, in the only national oenological competition that combines the promotion of wine with the appreciation of the respective territories.
Unique competition in Portugal aims to promote wines associated with its territory. Municipalities join wine growers to jointly act as promoters of wines from their territories. The fourth edition of the competition took place in the demarcated Dão Wine Region, in the Municipality of Gouveia, from the 9th to the 12th of May 2024. The competition is a joint organization of the Association of Wine Routes of Portugal, the Association of Portuguese Wine Municipalities ( AMPV), from the Municipality of Gouveia as host, among other entities.
The Cities of Wine Enological Competition has once again become golden. In this 4th edition, 100 medals were awarded, 36 Grand Gold Medals and 64 Gold Medals.
The competition took place in Gouveia, from the 9th to the 12th of May, and brought together 30 tasters to evaluate the approximately 400 wines that presented themselves to this competition, unique in Portugal for simultaneously promoting wines and their territories of origin, placing wine growers and municipalities to work together to promote wine-producing regions.
The competition is a joint organization of the Association of Wine Routes of Portugal (ARVP) and the Association of Portuguese Wine Municipalities (AMPV), with support from the Wine in Moderation program and, in this 2024 edition, from the Municipality of Gouveia.
Adega de Penalva was present and was extremely pleased to be awarded two GRAND GOLD MEDALS and two GOLD MEDALS.
