Crédito Agrícola distinguishes 67 National Wines
The winners of the 9th edition of the Crédito Agrícola Wine Contest, an initiative developed in partnership with the Association of Sommeliers of Portugal, were announced at a ceremony held on the 13th of January, at Estufa-Fria, in Lisbon.
This year’s edition of the Crédito Agrícola Wine Contest received a total of 218 wines – white, red and sparkling -, put to the test by 94 national producers from the various wine regions of the country, Clients and Associates of Crédito Agrícola.
The jury, made up of oenologists, oenophiles and specialized journalists, distinguished, during the blind tastings held on November 4th, 67 wines with Tambuladeira dos Escanções de Portugal, 3 with the Great Gold Medal and 64 with gold medals.
In the 9th edition, wines from the wine regions of Vinho Verde (3 medals), Douro (12 medals), Beira Interior (1 medal), Dão (12 medals), Bairrada (1 medal), Tejo (9 medals), Lisbon (4 medals), Setúbal Peninsula (6 medals), Alentejo (17 medals), Algarve (1 medal) and Azores (1 medal).
The Prize Giving Ceremony, which was attended by Bernardo Gouvêa, President of the Vine and Wine Institute, the entity that certifies the Competition since the first edition, and Licínio Pina, President of the Crédito Agrícola Group, was led by Sílvia Alberto and brought together producers, representatives of Cooperatives, Regional Wine Commissions and the Regional Directorate of Agriculture and Fisheries of Lisbon and Tagus Valley, as well as oenologists, sommeliers and persons responsible for Agricultural Credit from all over the country.
The Crédito Agrícola Wine Contest aims to promote and test the quality of national wines, seeking to generate new business opportunities and boost the communities where it develops its work in direct contact with people. This is yet another initiative by the Crédito Agrícola Group to support the wine sector and the development of local economies.
